Hey there!

I’m Lauren Weiner. I was born and raised in the suburbs of Chicago, Illinois. This winter I will be graduating from DePaul University with a BA in Writing, Rhetoric & Discourse.

I freelance with a writing niche in pop culture. My specialties are movie reviews, articles on entertainment and culture, and scripts.

I write regularly about Northern Virginia culture for Colgan Teams blog. My articles boost traction to their site with each piece getting an average of a hundred views. I also write about music, TV, and film for the Gen Z-inspired magazine, Trill Mag, and Chicago’s local paper, Third Coast Review. Here I focus on making current cultural topics and events digestible for various audiences.

Recently, I have been given the opportunity to work with Chicago’s Graceland Cemetery to strengthen their presence in the community. This project involved crafting audio tour scripts about historical figures of Graceland. Future projects with them are currently in the works.

On the side, I write movie reviews for City on Fire, That Shelf, and The Geekly Grind. Occasionally, I’m part of writer’s rooms for indie and start-up productions.
