About Me
Hey there!
I’m Lauren Weiner. I work and live in Chicago, Illinois as a content writer with a B.A in Writing, Rhetoric and Discourse from DePaul University.
I freelance with a writing niche in entertainment, culture and lifestyle. My specialties are movie and music reviews, retrospectives, scripts, and broader entertainment journalism.
I’ve written over 20 articles about Northern Virginia culture for Colgan Teams blog. My articles boost traction to their site as each piece gets hundreds of views. I write about music, TV, and film for the Gen Z-inspired magazine, Trill Mag, and Chicago’s local paper, Third Coast Review. Here I focus on making current cultural topics and events digestible for various audiences. I also write CD reviews for Country Standard Time, an established (now fully) digital magazine which covers all news related to country and bluegrass music.
Recently, I have been given the opportunity to work with Chicago’s Graceland Cemetery to strengthen their presence in the community. This project involved crafting audio tour scripts about historical figures of Graceland. Future projects with them are currently in the works.
On the side, I write movie reviews for City on Fire, That Shelf, and The Geekly Grind. Occasionally, I’m part of writer’s rooms for indie and start-up productions.
